Statesman Tie’s Tonga Tie was designed to represent the flag of Tonga. For this tie, we used the red couped cross from the flag with along with the white canton and mimicked the flag itself with the positioning of both on the red stripe of the tie. The white stripes accent the white canton throughout the length of the tie. We think we created a classy tie that can be worn at any time for any occasion.
Regarding the flag specifically: “Adopted in 1875 after being officially enshrined into the nation’s constitution, it has been the flag of the Kingdom of Tonga since that year. The constitution stipulates that the national flag can never be changed.
The colors and symbols of the flag carry cultural, political, and regional meanings. The red couped cross alludes to Christianity, the religion practiced by approximately 97% of the country’s population. The white epitomizes purity, while the red evokes the sacrifice of the Blood of Christ, which he shed during his Crucifixion.” (Source, here. )
