Statesman Tie’s Spain tie was designed to represent the flag of Spain. This is a tie that can be worn for many different occasions.

“The flag of Spain (Spanish: Bandera de España, colloquially known as “la Rojigualda”), as it is defined in the Spanish Constitution of 1978, consists of three horizontal stripes: red, yellow and red, the yellow stripe being twice the size of each red stripe. Traditionally, the middle stripe was defined by the more archaic term of gualda, and hence the popular name rojigualda (red-weld).” (Source: here)

“The coat of arms of Spain symbolizes the country and the nation; the old kingdoms of Spain, the Royal Crown, the Imperial Crown, the Constitutional monarchy, the Spanish national motto: Plus Ultra, and the Pillars of Hercules with the Spanish geographic situation.” (Source: here)

For the Spain tie, we had to play with the color schemes a little. If we were to place the coat of arms logo on a yellow stripe in the tie, the thread from the weave beneath the yellow would make a shadow show through and the yellow would look slightly brown. We didn’t want that. So, the red became the base for the tie and then we added in yellow accent lines to help frame the red. Also, there is quite a bit of black in the coat of arms, so we added a thin black stripe in the middle of the yellow to give the tie a little more detail. Simple and classy. We hope you like it.
