Statesman Tie’s India tie was designed to represent the Indian Flag. The design takes elements from the Indian flag and mixes them together to create a tie that can be worn at any time for any occasion.
“The National Flag of India is a horizontal rectangular tricolour of India saffron, white and India green; with the Ashoka Chakra, a 24-spoke wheel, in navy blue at its center. It was adopted in its present form during a meeting of the Constituent Assembly held on 22 July 1947, and it became the official flag of the Dominion of India on 15 August 1947. The flag was subsequently retained as that of the Republic of India. In India, the term “tricolour” (Hindi: तिरंगा, translit. Tiraṅgā) almost always refers to the Indian national flag.
By law, the flag is to be made of khadi, a special type of hand-spun cloth or silk, made popular by Mahatma Gandhi. The manufacturing process and specifications for the flag are laid out by the Bureau of Indian Standards. ” (Source: here)
When designing the tie, we used the same exact order of colors in the flag as the stripes for the tie. The navy blue of the tie was used because that is the color of the Ashoka Chakra and it creates a nice contrasting background for the saffron, white and India green colors. We then placed the Ashoka Chakra in the corner as the defining logo of the tie. We think it turned out classy and something we think represents India well.
The India tie is a great gift for missionaries, businessmen, and anyone who loves India.
