]]> The Statesman Ties South Dakota Skinny Tie design was inspired by the flag of South Dakota. We took the main elements of the state flag of South Dakota and created a classy necktie.

The flag of South Dakota represents the U.S. state of South Dakota. It consists of a field of sky blue charged with a version (in navy blue on white) of the state seal in the center, surrounded by gold triangles representing the sun’s rays, surrounded in turn by inscriptions in gold sans-serif capitals of “south dakota” on top and “the mount rushmore state” (the state nickname) on the bottom. The sun represents the common weather in South Dakota. The inscription on the bottom was “the sunshine state” before it was changed in 1992.

The South Dakota Skinny Tie is a great gift for missionaries, businessmen, and anyone who loves South Dakota.

The blue stripe represents the eternal blue sky, and the red stripes symbolize thriving forever. The Soyombo symbol is a geometric abstraction that represents fire, sun, moon, earth, water, and a Taijitu symbol representing the duality of yin and yang.” (Source: here) We used the red and blue colors from the flag as the stripes for our tie. We added a black stripe to give the tie a little more distinction and then placed the Soyombo in the bottom corner.
