“The flag of Poland consists of two horizontal stripes of equal width, the upper one white and the lower one red. White and red were officially adopted as national colors in 1831.

Horizontal bicolors of white and red being a relatively widespread design, there are several flags that are similar but unrelated to the Polish one. There are two national flags with the red stripe above the white one: those of Indonesia and Monaco.” (Source: here)

The Poland skinny tie was designed with the flag in mind, but mostly, we wanted to keep it simple in order to make the coat of arms a focal point. The white, crowned eagle is a very important symbol of Poland and very recognizable. One of the original designs was simply a red tie with the eagle in the corner. In the end, we wanted to spice things up a little, but not get too spicy. We hope you like it.

“The flag of the state of Idaho consists of the state seal on a field of blue. The Great Seal was designed by Emma Edwards Green, the only woman to design a state seal. The words “State of Idaho” appear in gold letters on a red and gold band below the seal.

The seal depicts a miner and a woman representing equality, liberty and justice. The symbols on the seal represent some of Idaho’s natural resources: mines, forests, farmland, and wildlife.” (Source: here)

When designing the Idaho Tie, we used some of the colors from the seal for the stripes in the tie. The blue of the tie was used to create some variance in colors from the other blue ties that we have already designed, thus the different hue when compared to that of the flag. We also simplified the detailed seal so that it would be easier to weave into the tie.  Something a little different, but classy and something we think represents the state well.

“The flag of Italy (bandiera d’Italia, often referred to in Italian as il Tricolore is a tricolour featuring three equally sized vertical pales of green, white and red, with the green at the hoist side. Its current form has been in use since 18 June 1946 and was formally adopted on 1 January 1948.

Some have attributed particular values to the colors, and a common interpretation is that the green represents the country’s plains and the hills; white, the snow-capped Alps; and red, blood spilt in the Wars of Italian Independence. A more religious interpretation is that the green represents hope, the white represents faith, and the red represents charity; this references the three theological virtues.” (Source: here)

When designing the Italy Tie, we used colors from the flag and combined them with the color that is most commonly used with the national sports teams of Italy: blue (or Azzurro). The flag has vertical green, white and red lines, so we laid those lines on top of the Italian blue and created our Italy tie. We think it turned out classy and something we think represents Italy well.
