Statesman Tie’s Ghana Skinny Tie was designed to represent the Ghanaian Flag. The design takes elements from the Ghanaian flag and mixes them together to create a tie that can be worn at any time for any occasion. The flag of Ghana consists of three horizontal stripes (or tricolour) displaying the Pan-African colors of red, yellow and green, with a five-pointed black star in the middle of the flag.

“The red represents the blood of those who died in the country’s struggle for independence from the Great Britain, the gold represents the mineral wealth of the country, the green symbolizes the country’s rich forests and natural wealth, and the black star is the symbol of African emancipation. The black star was adopted from the flag of the Black Star Line, a shipping line incorporated by Marcus Garvey that operated from 1919 to 1922. It is where the Ghana national football team draw their nickname, the Black Stars, from.” (Source: here)

We decided to use the black star as our primary logo to make the Ghana tie very recognizable and then implement the colors of the flag in such a way that a black stripe related to the color of the star would show off an outlined black star nicely and then the red, yellow and green would be accent colors to give the tie some contrast and be seen as the actual flag running the full width of the tie, on a diagonal. We would have liked to put the black star on a yellow stripe just like the flag, but the black thread shows those the yellow stripe when a tie is woven and makes the yellow look dingy.

The Ghana Skinny Tie is a great gift for missionaries, businessmen, and anyone who loves Ghana. Customize your Ghana tie by adding an embroidered, personalized message to the back. We hand-sew each tag onto every tie.

Our high quality Ghana Skinny Tie is made with 100% woven silk and measures 61″ long x 2.5″ wide.

Customize your tie by adding an embroidered, personalized message to the back, making it totally unique!

We attach each tag onto every tie.

Represent Ghana with pride by showing everyone where you’re from, where you’ve been or where you’re going.
