Statesman Tie’s Washington DC tie was designed to represent the flag of Washington D.C. The D.C flag consists of the three red stars above two red bars. “It is an armorial banner based on the design of the coat of arms of George Washington, first used to identify the family in the 12th century, when one of George Washington’s ancestors took possession of Washington Old Hall, County Durham, northeast England. As elements in heraldry, the stars are properly called mullets.” (Source, here.) We incorporated the three stars into the logo along with the iconic United States Capitol building. Red and white were natural color choices to use the same color elements as the flag.

We attach each tag on by hand.
